1. The single most important fact
We never receive your documents. Every tool on this site performs its work inside your own web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. There is no upload step, no server-side processing endpoint and no file storage of any kind. When you select a file, it is read by your browser directly from your device’s storage into your device’s memory. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. The page itself — its HTML, styles, scripts, fonts and images — is of course downloaded over the internet when you open it, exactly like any website. Your document is never part of that download.
You can verify this yourself: load any tool page, disconnect your device from the internet, and use the tool. It will still work. Alternatively, open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run a conversion — you will see no request carrying your document.
2. What we do not collect
- No file contents, file names, file sizes or page counts.
- No passwords. Passwords you type — for example when unlocking your own PDF — are used inside your browser tab to derive an encryption key and are never transmitted or stored.
- No email addresses or accounts, because there are no accounts.
- No payment information, because nothing on this site costs money.
- No data extracted from your documents, and no metadata about them.
3. What is collected automatically
Like almost every website, this site is served by a hosting provider that records standard server logs when a page is requested. Those logs may contain your IP address, the page you requested, the page that referred you, your browser’s user-agent string and a timestamp. This information is used solely for security (identifying abuse or attacks), for diagnosing faults, and for understanding aggregate traffic volumes. It is not used to build a profile of you and is not sold or shared for marketing.
4. Cookies and local storage
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies by default. It uses your browser’s localStorage for exactly two small preferences: whether you have chosen the light or dark theme, and nothing else. That value stays on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.
If analytics are enabled by the site operator, a privacy-respecting analytics service may be used with IP anonymisation switched on, and no attempt is made to identify individual visitors. If advertising is enabled, the ad provider may set its own cookies; that is disclosed below.
5. Third-party libraries and CDNs
Every PDF engine used by this site is served from our own copy under /assets/js/vendor/, so in normal use there are no third-party library requests at all. A public content delivery network (jsDelivr) is configured purely as a fallback for the unlikely case that the local file cannot be read; if that fallback were ever used, the CDN would see the request — your IP address and user-agent — in the same way any web request is seen by the server that answers it. It would still receive no information about your document: it serves a fixed JavaScript or WebAssembly file, usually before you have even chosen a file.
The web font (Inter) is self-hosted from this domain, under /assets/fonts/. There are no Google Fonts, gstatic or other third-party font requests on this site.
6. Advertising
Advertising is disabled by default on this site. If it is ever switched on, any ad network used may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure and personalise advertising, and its own privacy policy will apply. A consent notice will be shown where required by law, ad slots will be clearly marked, and blocking ad scripts will never disable any tool.
7. Analytics
Analytics are disabled by default and only load if a measurement ID is configured. When enabled, the data collected is limited to aggregate page views and basic device categories — never the content, name or size of any document you process. No personal identifiers are transmitted.
8. Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because no account is required and no personal data is collected, there is nothing specific to delete on request.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Because we hold essentially no personal data about our users, in practice there is usually nothing to disclose or delete. If you have a specific request, write to support@pdfutilise.com and we will respond within 30 days.
10. Data security and retention
Server logs are retained for a limited period consistent with security needs and then deleted. Since no document data is ever received, there is no document retention policy to state. Your files remain on your own device throughout, protected by whatever security your own computer or phone provides.
11. International transfers
A hosting provider and a content delivery network may process standard request logs in data centres located in more than one country. No document data is involved in any such transfer, because none exists on our side.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes — particularly anything that could affect the "no upload" guarantee — will be described in plain language rather than buried in a revised paragraph. That guarantee is the reason this site exists, and it will not change quietly.
